I’ve been itching to write a Happy Easter greeting post on Easter day, but I was so swamped with many things. I’ll explain later. Please accept my apology for the late arrival of this post. So, “Happy Easter, everyone!!!” I don’t know about you but I feel we sometime downplay the celebration of Easter as compare to what we do for Christmas. But as Christians, we should proudly celebrate big on Easter, for our God has victory over death. No one else claim that!!
And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep (1 Corinthians 15:14, 20)
Here’s the recap of what was going on with me last couple days.
Friday.
- 7:30AM. It was my day off, but still got to wake up early to take Grace to school.
- 9:00AM. Lot of works to do. The video clip for the Easter skit was not done yet. Sounds needed to be burned to CD. Thao was off to work. Ben got up. Diaper change then breakfast. Washed dishes.
- 11:30AM. Picked up Grace from school. As promised, I drove Grace to Burger King for the SpongeBob toy in the kid meal. They were out. Went to McDonald instead.
- 12:30PM. Kid’s playtime before nap. I couldn’t work on the laptop, as Ben kept wanting my attention and insisted typing for me. Practiced guitar for the couple Easter songs instead. Quit. Ben wanted to strum too.
- 2:30PM. Nap time. Grace was already asleep. Ben had already finished his milk but still not sleeping. Still, couldn’t work on the laptop. Had to put him in on bed, and lay beside him.
- 4:30PM. Oh no, I fell asleep too!!! It was cozy!! Gotta get up and make some progress here. Nope! Ben was awake and hungry, again!
- 5:30PM. Bath time for Ben. Shower for Grace.
- 6:30PM. Dinner time. Kids gotta eat.
- 7:30PM. Left for Easter rehearsal. Returned home. Forgot Ben’s milk! Left for rehearsal.
- 8:00PM. Not everyone showed up yet. A group was using the church, so we couldn’t rehearse at the church now. Improvised. Switched to my dad’s home nearby. Everyone came, except the main person. It was work emergency and she had to work late. Someone brought foods and we were hungry, so we ate.
- 9:00PM. Practice singing over the Easter songs. Argued Strongly suggested how the songs should be sang. Agreed and moved on.
- 9:45PM. Rehearsed. Thao drove the kids home.
- 11:30PM. Practiced for another solo song.
- 12:30AM. Stopped by grocery store to get Coco Puff cereal for Grace, and juice.
- 2:00AM. Updated the soundtrack for the drama for better fit.
Saturday
- 8:30AM. Woke up. Prepared to bring the kids to the Easter egg hunt.
- 10:00AM. It snowed. Canceled the plan. Washed the dishes. Asking self, with only two adults and 2 kids, why there so many dirty dishes??!!
- 12:00PM-06:00PM. The usual stuff. Lunch. Played. Napped. Diaper changed. Bathed. Showered. Worked with the slides in between.
- 6:30PM. Dinner time. I made Easy Mac N’ Cheese. Nhan stopped by and brought fried chicken. Still have leftover Mac N’ Cheese in the fridge. Thao called and said she would come directly to church instead of coming home.
- 8:00PM. Someone brought chicken wings.
- 8:30PM. Last rehearsed begin. We sang songs. Rehearsed the skit. Props and costume were not done yet.
- 11:30PM. Fingers hurt. Could not play guitar anymore. (more on that in another post). Asked Anh Phuc to play for Nhan’s song. Practiced.
- 12:00AM. Got home to work on the program slides and video. Thao and the kids already fell asleep.
- 3:30AM. Eyelids just fell asleep on their own. Body shut down.
Sunday
- 7:30AM. My phone alarm went off, but my hand acted on its own and turn it off.
- 8:37AM. Woke up on the sofa, cozy in the blanket. Glanced at the clock on the wall, sat up immediately and grabbed the laptop to resume work. Stomach growled, but there was no time for breakfast. I had about 5 hours to wrap this up before we leave for church, as service starts at 2:00PM
- 9:00AM. Thao came down from the bedroom to the kitchen to prepare the food to bring to the Potluck we would share together after the main service. She looked outside the window and said it was snowing. It was pouring. About 2-4 inches of snow had already accumulated on the ground. Great!!! That means we have to leave for church even sooner to make it there on time.
- 12:30PM. Scrambling and digging through pile of archive software discs to find the appropriate software. Installed software. It did not work. So frustrated! Took bathroom break, brushed teeth! Ate brunch! Retested the sounds and burned to CD. Printed extra copies of songs and skit. Thao finished her dessert dish. Tasted it and burned my tongue. Was mad. Finally, got the software to work. Packed laptop, and everything.
- 1:00PM. Showered. Dressed. Left for church. Snow melt.
- 1:30PM. Setup the projector, slides, CD player. Checked the stage, and costume. Check the song folders, stands, and microphone. Founded out the Youth was supposed to print the program, but didn’t. Needed to find someone to monitor while I’m away. Found one, and gave how-to instruction. Brought camera and tripod along, but no time to set it up.
- 2:00PM. Guests came. Found Anh Phuc to go over the solo song, once. Found one of the props for skit was not prepared. My brother then took care of it. Missed the prayer with the deacons before service.
- 2:15PM. Program started.
It wasn’t a smooth sail for the Easter program, but we had great time celebrate our Lord risen on Easter. The drama was presented well, and the youth did very well with their roles. The timing of the slides and the background narration and music were off few seconds at time, but they still delivered. Pastor’s message to conclude the drama was powerful. Lan’s recitation of the poem was touching. My finger hurted so bad, so I wasn’t able to play the guitar for other songs as intended. But God healed it, I was able to play the last song. An invitation at the end of the program by one of our church deacons, Bac Rit, was genuine. After service, the whole congregation gathered at my dad’s house to have fellowship and enjoy Potluck together. It was packed, but it was very fun. There were lots of great foods.
Though no one came to accept Christ on that day, but many have heard of the gospel. May God will bless them and lead them on to Him when the time comes.
