Grace’s immediate memory is not very good. Every day when I pick her up from school, I always ask her how is her day and what she’s done in class, she barely remembers. However, give it about 2, 3 days, she will tell you as it was just happened. Yeah, it’s pretty weird. Grace also remembers all the little details that she comes across. When she was 3, I took her to the store to get her new pair of shoes. I was busy picking the shoes, then turned around and saw her nodding her head to the music in the store. I asked her what was it, and she said that song was in the Chicken Little movie. It’s amazing! When we rent DVD and watch movie together, at certain scene, she would tell us what will going to happen next, or the exact line, and she always get it right. I ask her ”How did you know that?“, then she would answer like she saw it in a TV commercial, or she heard it from somewhere. Sometime, she reminds me about events happened to her when she was 2, or things I told her back then. It’s amazing what’s going on inside her head.
Last week, Grace had a re-tell Three Little Pigs story in class. We have not read to her this book yet, but the teacher must have read to the class, and ask the student to retell the story in their own words. Grace actually got third place, and her teacher rewarded her a gift certificate for free pizza at Pizza Hut. Oh she was so excited!!! I don’t think she knows the difference between Third vs. First. She was just happily claiming: “I win! I win!“… ha ha ha. Regardless of third place or else, we are proud of her! Grace kept insisting we should have pizza for dinner. Last Sunday, Grace had to memorize and recite 6-line poem in the Easter program, after the kid’s song. She did excellent! I didn’t even know about her memorization part since I did not hear she recited it during the whole week.
Last night, Grace received her first dollar from the Tooth Fairy. One of her bottom tooth fell out yesterday. She carefully wrapped it in the Ziploc bag and tugged under the pillow. Grace told me her plan of faking sleep, and waiting for the Tooth Fairy to come, she would grabbed the hand of the Tooth Fairy so she wouldn’t fly away. Unfortunately, it failed! She already fell asleep when the Tooth Fairy came. When I asked how would she imagine the Tooth Fairy look like, Grace replied with confident: “She has wings! She flies, and she wears lipstick!“ “Lipstick?” I asked “How do you know she wear lipstick?” Grace said the Tooth Fairy gave her a kiss, and left a light pink mark on her cheek!!!! Ha ha ha . Cute!!

Well, sounds like your girl is very smart. That is a God Blessed, huh? I have not had children, so I don’t know much about taking care of kids. But I’ve heard my clients have their grandkids graduate highschool @ 15 1/2 years of age. Wow, that is great. If you guys can figure out how to homeshool her, I’m sure she will be successed. Actually, we are still looking for a church or a group of people that will have homeschool, so that next Few years (hehehe) we can hook with them. I think the church is the best place. Moreover, with a Vietnamese church the kids will have more advantages in learning about cultures and language. I saw our church has quite a bit kids. Maybe you guys can figure out how. That’s if you can and want, of course.
