God gives each and everyone of us certain special gifts or talents. Some might have more than the other, but they all are special and unique gifts in their own way. No one is the same. If you don’t know what talent or gift you possess, in time God will reveal to you. All you have to do is ask Him! I’m sure it is pretty amazing. It might not be to you, but it is to many others who so envy you! Many times I have this same jealous feeling for others’ abilities, and wish I would have them. Now that I am a parent, I see this is a very childish behavior. How many times are children nagging parents for something they don’t need, or too much for them to handle?! This reminds me of the story with my brother when he was young, asking our parents for the red pepper without backing down, regardless of many forewarns that it’s not fruit, and is very hot. Yeah, the story didn’t end too well for him. Once he got a taste, he cried even louder than the time he demanded it.
I believe God has special uses or purposes for each of the talents He granted us. God is fair, you know! And it just seems fair that each talent has a purpose, so that no one should question God why he received this talent and his friend the other. Asking for more special talents is like asking for more responsibility. Do we really want more responsibility? Remember the line from Spiderman, “With great power comes great responsibility“?!
Another thing is, if we don’t bother to use our gifts or talents for the purpose God has, He will take it away. Kadoosssh! And it is gone, just like that! Is anyone who used to know how to play musical instrument, or speak a foreign language, but now forgot? Anyone?
Therefore, whichever talents that you have, whether teaching, singing, dancing, playing musical instrument, counseling, encouraging others … let’s put them in good use and, do it unto the Lord.
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. (1 Peter 4:10)
On the same subject, I was listening to some praise music on YouTube, and then found this amazing talented painter artist, named Mike Lewis. Yeah, I’m a sucker for artzie things. He has such a wonderful way of painting, so smooth and clever. Most of his videos, I couldn’t tell what is he painting until he’s nearly finished. But what a painting he made!! Most of his painting are done within 15 minutes. Oh I’m so jealous of his ability. Uh.. nothing! What special about all his paintings is they are focusing only on one theme: Jesus!!! You don’t see that very often. He has a website at: http://jesuspainter.com, so you can check out his works. The picture here is one of his work, and it was taken from his website. Beautiful, isn’t it?
The Dove Awards 2007 ceremony featured a video done in partnership with Mac Powell of Third Day, Steven Curtis Chapman, David Nasser and Mike Lewis for the song “By His Wounds” to be featured on the Glory Revealed Tour. The movie of this painting Christ Eye by JesusPainter was playing in the background. See the Youtube video below.
