Psalm 40:3 said:

He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.

I read this verse before, but never thought much about it. I enjoy singing songs that other people wrote, or might translate to my native Vietnamese language if I really like the song. I have never thought that I would be writing a new song on my own.  But then, that is what amazing about how God works, and what He could do in our live if we allow Him. We need to expect the unexpected. When I asked God for the abiliby to learn and play guitar for worship, He granted it.  I am now still learning and developing the ability to play some worship songs. Moreover, God has given me another gift that I have not asked.

At the weekly Prayer Meeting last week, we were reading the scripture in Psalm 25,

Show me your ways, O LORD,
       teach me your paths;

 Guide me in your truth and teach me,
       for you are God my Savior,
       and my hope is in you all day long.

 Remember, O LORD, your great mercy and love,
       for they are from of old.

 Remember not the sins of my youth
       and my rebellious ways;
       according to your love remember me,
       for you are good, O LORD.

As the pastor was sharing the message, God placed a melody in my head from these verses. It was in that quiet morning, my heart was calm and seeking out to God, a melody was playing in my head. I was humming along. Then  I started doubting that  I might have being influenced by other songs I might have heard before, but I could not identify where it would come from. I thought to myself, I need to write this melody down, sing it,  and ask others if they have heard it before.  But regardless where it comes from, it was a new song (to me) that God has put in me to sing for Him…   Now about the writing down the melody. The problem is that I don’t know much of music theory, and have never written a single note of music.  So I don’t even know where to start or what notes of these melody would be in the music sheet. I’m sure God will show it to me somehow.

I need your help!! If you have heard a song singing from these verses, please let me know.  Meanwhile, I will try to best to record the melody to show you. I will post it as soon as I get around to it.

Remember King Salomon? He  asked God for wisdom, and it was so pleasing to God that He granted King Salomon not just wisdom but the greatest wisdom and all other things he has not asked.

“Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.  Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both riches and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings.”  (1 King 3:10-12)

O how generous is our God!!!  He never gives just-enough, but always overflowingly.   So what have you asked God today? Has He ever put a new song in your mouth?
