Answered Prayer

Listen with webReader

I’ve been so busy with work and with many other personal tasks, so I haven’t found time to blog lately.  However, God has been wonderful to me, and He answered my prayer, so I’m itching to tell you all about it.

Well, my refrigerator stopped working, again, and for the 3rd time! Granted, it is 7 years old, but isn’t a refrigerator lifespan like 20 years?! The first time it broke, the mechanic part to defrost failed. The second time which was only few months ago, the circuit board was toasted and was replaced with brand one board. Actually, it took the technician several trips to our house to finally fixed it right. There are lots of work and inconveniences when a fridge breaks down….  Yesterday morning when I got up, Thao greeted me  “Honey, bad news! The fridge doesn’t work anymore!“   Well, things break, and that’s just normal, but I am just so not ready to spend money to fix a refrigerator again. With the money we paid to fix the fridge last time, we could have add a little more and get a new refrigerator. This is really a bad news!

Thao left to take the kids to daycare and gone to work. I finished my morning routine, and came down to the kitchen to check out the fridge. There was no sound from the ice-maker, and the fan definitely wasn’t running. No more cold air coming out of the top vent.  On the freezer side, frosts has begun to melt. Somehow, the thought of calling a technician just never crossed my mind as it did last time. As I stood there, laid my hand on the fridge door, I began to pray. God knows our budget; He knows our need. He knows we need this fridge to operate. I then started praying out loud “Lord, I know You are able and You would make this fridge work again. I believe in Your power, and I trust in You, for You know we need this fridge to work. I believe in You and Your power. Thank You Lord for taking care of this problem.”   It’s in the Lord’s hand now, I thought and then left the house for work.

It has been so busy at work lately, so I did not have a chance to think about the broken fridge. I totally forgot all about it. After work, I picked up Benjamin from daycare and drove home. It all came back to me that the fridge wasn’t working when I left as soon as I set foot in the kitchen. Immediately, I notice the refrigerator fan was running. I grabbed the fridge handle and pulled out, cool air was flowing out greeting my face. I was so happy as I would jump and shout out in joy. Ben probably had thought ”You’re weird, Daddy“. I was overjoyed. ”Thank You Jesus! Thank you Jesus! You’re awesome!” I kept saying.

Thao got home soon after that. “It’s sad our fridge broke” she sighed sadly as she got out the parked car in the garage. “Well, not anymore!” I told her how I prayed for our fridge this morning, and God had fixed it. Thao gave me the surprised and disbelief look. “Are you sure? It’s running right now?” Apparently, she was concerned about the broken fridge, and went home around 3PM to start taking some foods out, and moved the milk to the mini fridge. The refrigerator wasn’t working at 3PM. But it is now!

The fridge is still running fine today!

God has answered plenty of my prayers, but this is just the most recent one that I thought I want to share with you. Our God is Almighty God, yet He cares for us. There’s no problem is too big for Him to solve, or too small for Him to ignore. All the time, we ask God to heal our sickness, to protect us from trouble, to bless us with foods, strength, wisdom… so why not asking Him to fix the refrigerator? You don’t think He ignore such silly request, do you?

 Jesus said:

I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. (Matthew 17:20)

We shouldn’t doubt him.  Whether we gratefully acknowledge it with thanksgiving, or receive His blessing and forget to thank Him, or flatly deny the Giver and His miracles, God’s blessings keep flowing abundantly. It’s His way of showing affection to us, always so overwhelming, so much, so hard to understand, and simply just have to accept it.

Congratulation to you. God answered your pray. I’m still waiting for his answer about my brother relationship with my father for over 15 years. I pray that He will open his eyes and show him the right way to go. Don’t worry, I’m a patient person eventhough sometimes I think I’m not. I’m still praying for it every day. And I pray that no other child in this earth will do what my brother did to his father.

Thank you Thao. God is listening to your prayer too, and He will have the answer for your prayer in the right time. God bless!
